Every summer, I buy myself a bouquet of peonies because I love a big, aggressively colored blossom. Those fresh bouquets bloom and bust within a week, and every day I’m taking lots of photos. I love how they explode open with life and color.

I layered lots of color to build depth and energy into the open blossom and the neighboring ones as well. It feels bold, delicate and inviting in its final state.

The edges of the painting are painted a deep purple, signature included on the right.
