This painting is part of my “Deep Sea Dances” collection where I explore ideas of dance in paint, through the lens of underwater creatures. Their fluid movements through the water, the delicate rippling of fins, invertebrate bodies swirling around rocks or prey - all of these sea dances I wanted to celebrate in paint. 

I looked at beta fish fins, took several photos and composed them on a black background to make the intensity of the fin colors POP! The lines of the fins are delicate and capture the gentle movements of the animal in the water. The edges are painted black, artist signature on the right edge, finished with a semi-gloss surface.
